Be the next Miss Caraibes Hibiscus!

Miss Caraibes (Caribbean) Hibiscus Cayman is seeking a contestant to represent the Cayman Islands in this year’s pageant.  The 19th Annual Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus Beauty Pageant will take place on the French island of St Maarten from 27 November to 7 December 2009 at the Maho Sonesta Resort Convention Centre. The pageant will feature contestants from fifteen Caribbean islands.


This year’s Cayman ambassador will be go through four months of extensive preparation, “If we are going to compete internationally and expect to win, we can not sit around and wait until a month before, otherwise it is simply a waste of time and money. Preparation and proper knowledge is the way to go. The pageant world is very fierce in order to compete, she must know how to play the game,” said Cayman’s Franchise holder Mr Dwight McLean.

 

The perfect candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the Cayman Islands, an outstanding personality, is well-rehearsed Caymanian culture and what these Islands offers as a tourism destination. The Cayman Islands have had five ambassadors appear in this pageant, last year’s representative was twenty-year-old Treveen Stewart of George Town, who won the Miss Personality award.

 

During the competition week, Miss Caraibes Hibiscus 2010 contestants will participate in various promotional activities as well as attend formal ceremonies, reception dinners and meet with government officials.  On the night of the pageant the contestants will present a speech about the Cayman Islands in cultural wear, and participate in a swimwear and evening gown competition. The contestants will be judged on various criteria, including poise, appearance, stage presence, demarche, speaking abilities and choice of costumes. “The pageant is all about promoting your island, the Caribbean as a destination, and most of all developing friendships,” said Mr McLean.

This will be Cayman’s 5th appearance at the pageant. Contestants have the opportunity to win various categories awards: Best Cultural Wear, Best Gown, Miss Amity, Miss Popularity and Miss Photogenic.
